I arrived ridiculously early, which is my habit for these things, and sat uncomfortably in the lobby waiting to get closer to the appointed time before calling to announce my arrival. I called My Darling and let him know I had arrived on time and gave him the address (he was concerned about the safety of my meeting as though I were hooking up with some internet friend, all of which have been wonderful. It was, however, sweet of him). A trip to the restroom to check my appearance and pee (improving my concentration) garnered me a new friend as I struck up a nervous conversation with an older woman in front of the mirror. I stood there adjusting my collar, then my jacket, then my collar again. I told her I was there to interview for a job and she provided me with support. I am always pleasantly surprised at the ability of a stranger to provide positive reinforcement. It seems that people are usually really nice to me during these times of my life.

The woman from the restroom followed me out into the lobby volunteering that she was awaiting a friend of hers who was interviewing for a position as an airline hostess (stewardess, she called it). She told me I was lucky cause now a day businesses werent looking for blonde bimbos with big boobs and so I had a better chance than I would have had years ago. We chatted lightly and I listened as she shared her experience as a stewardess in training. It was nice to be distracted from task at hand. I had organized my thoughts nicely during the 40 minute drive and I felt prepared.

He wasnt as I pictured him but he was professional enough and friendly. I was lead into a boardroom that had been set up for the task at hand. I poured myself a glass of water (marveling to myself at the design which allowed for pouring in the traditional fashion and also had a pour spout on the side allowing a pour a la waitress style) and sat down in the hot seat prepared to sell myself.

This was my first real job interview since I arrived in MI. I had a few phone interviews (and of course at the restaurant but that really doesnt count) but no real interest until now. The interview lasted two hours. This is not unusual in my field. Not only must you answer the usual questions how would you handle.? and explain what you would do to solve this problem but his company also requested that I complete an investigation and prospectus for a fake company (Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems- LOL) and send them by e-mail prior to the interview and present them in person. It was quite involved indeed. I found all the problems embedded in the scenarios provided and prioritized my response.

I am pleased with my performance. I may or may not get the job (these things are hard to predict) but I dont feel I did anything wrong in the interview and I feel very good about the experience. The feedback seemed positive and I was promised a response by this Friday so when I know you will know.

Third interview (if I get it) will involve traveling to the corporate offices and meeting the staff. It is usually a formality but nothing is ever set in stone until all the papers are signed and even then its not a given. Still, if I get the invite to travel for the third interview chances are good Ive got the job if I want it.

I would like this job I think, and this company. If I dont get it something else will come along Im sure. Today is a good day.

I wish you Peace
